Thanks so much Dweezil! I have my own first time hearing Ed story, like so many did, but I had not thought a lot of it in the last decade. I was surprised to feel so sad that Ed was gone and having the music and his manner come flooding back. I listened to the albums thousands of times and I realized how much he meant to me and everyone else. This series is really special, thanks for doing it it means a lot to all of Ed’s fans, who are fans of your work too!

Dweezil

Thanks so much Jason! I'm glad you're enjoying the series.

Jay P.-P.

Man! You and Blues are having a blast. So fun. I’m really loving these.

Dweezil

We sure did have a good time! Glad you're enjoying it too!

“I’ve seen some people that’s looking for a moon beam”. Sure why not.

Jurre

I didn’t stop smiling and laughing listening to Dweezil and Paul.

Runnin’ with the Dweezil is simply fantastic.

It also helps me to deal with the loss of King Edward.

Dweezil I can’t thank you enough for this!!

Dweezil

Thanks, Jurre,

I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying the series! There's so much more coming your way.

Joseph s.

This is such a treat. I am a year younger than you and started playing at age 12 and soon fantasized about Ed coming over to my house and giving me lessons as soon as I discovered what tapping was:) The first VH song part ever learned to play was the intro to “take your whiskey” home. Can’t wait for the WACF episode! Keep up the amazing work Dweezil! You are brightening up so many EVH fans days at a time when we all really need it.

Dweezil

Hi Joseph,

Thanks for the kind words. I'm excited for you to hear the WACF episode(s). Blues Saraceno tells some great stories and it's a lot of fun.

Tigerbaby

Jeeze, I thought how could it get any better than Steve Van and Dweezil talking about "Van Halen" track by track... and then comes along Paul Gilbert and he was READY! Listening to a track by track analysis of "Van Halen II" as Paul plays lick example after lick example was beyond! Plus these podcasts are so funny, I have burst out laughing so many times. This podcast series is seriously a guitar player/ Van Halen fan's dream. Keep 'em coming, Dweezil!

Dweezil

HI James,

If you've been laughing during some of the earlier episodes get your seatbelt for the Blues Saraceno episode.

jake83crawford

I've never spent money on a podcast but I could listen to you and Mr Vai reminisce all day long.  Thanks Dweezil!  Huge fan.  I knew of your work before I got into your fathers work.  Bought Automatic when I was 16 at a guitar show, changed my life.  Thanks for that too!

Myles Matisse

The Paul Gilbert talk about the 2nd Van Halen album took interviews to an entirely new level with Paul killing it throughout with his brilliant spot on Eddie riffs from every song on the album as examples while reminiscing. So stunningly good.

Dweezil

Thanks Myles! Glad you enjoyed it!

Jack T.

Love the VH podcasts! I think the tune Paul was trying to remember is Shining Star (EW&F...bass line is very much like vocal melody for Beautiful Girls)

Christian B.

Hello! I have been purchasing these episodes one by one. The first Steve Vai episode downloaded as an MP3, the Paul Gilbert as a Flac, & The Second Steve Vai episode wont stream for me. It Downloaded as a file called Custody Exchange Live that is just silence. Loving the podcast & new site so farThanks! Hope all is well!

Dweezil

Hi Christian,

It should be working now. Best, DZ

Christian B.

Stream is working! Thanks so much Dweezil... also, Car Tune rules

William B.

On an unrelated note, if you don't mind me asking, why did you decide to sell your 'Shamer' Guitars by GMW? By all accounts, they were probably superior to the ones they were based off of. That being said, if you have one left, I wouldn't mind buying one :). I spoke with Lee Garver today and he has ceased all production :( .

Dweezil

Hi William,

That was about 20 + years ago and I no longer have those guitars. They were really nice but I wasn't playing them that much so I decided it would be best if other people enjoyed them.

purpleguitar

Loving these episodes so far, I always try to catch Paul when he plays in the uk likewise with you and Steve, Pauls enthusiasm when he's playing is fun to watch, looking forward to the Blues and Nuno episodes.

Dweezil

Hi Simon,

Thanks! I just recorded with Blues yesterday. We found out some stuff about Women And Children First that I never knew! It's going to be a fun episode!

Fab S.

I used to like Paul Gilbert a lot before hearing this pod cast but now I LOVE him. What a complete badass guitar player... and he seems really cool too.

Dweezil, any chance you’ve got video of these podcasts?

Dweezil

Hi Fab,

Glad you're enjoying the podcasts! There's no video at this time. There may be some videos included in some future episodes.

Kurt M.

FWI; the Paul Gilbert episode is for some reason a FLAC format as opposed to MP3.  Not sure what that is?

Dweezil

Hi Kurt,

The episodes stream as MP3. For download they are supposed to be FLAC. If you downloaded the file and it isn't in FLAC format then something needs to be investigated on our end. I will look into it. I hope you're enjoying the episodes!

Daroka

Hi Dweezil,
bought the 5150 bundle, really great content so far. Looking forward to the next episodes, especially the one with Nuno.
I love the Confessions album and hope you guys touch on that also in the episode. Would really like to know more about that
whole era of your career.

Dweezil

Hi Daroka,

Thanks! We didn't get into confessions much since we were so heavily focused on Van Halen. I think you'll enjoy our discussion though!

Caleb A.

I can't wait for the Paul Gilbert and Joe Satriani episodes. The Vai episode was great. So many great musicians on the podcast and I learn so much from each of you!

Dweezil

Thanks Caleb! I think you'll have fun listening to the Paul Gilbert episode! It premieres Thursday at noon PST.

Steve S.

Can I ask when the release dates are of the other episodes?

Dweezil

Hi Steve,

The episodes premiere each Thursday at noon PST.

Best, DZ

Jim Angelucci

Hi dweezil n Tiger.  Thanks. I think I got it now. The 2 episodes under the 5150 package  I swear I didn’t smoke my lunch just had to maneuver around  , thank you for he help

BTW THE Zappa doc about your father was great. Really shines a light especially for a younger a generation.

Jim Angelucci

Hi. I bought the 5150 package but I can’t access anything except the description. Little help appreciated

Tigerbaby

It is a little confusing if you don't know... Make sure you re logged in. Go up above and click on the 5150 (red, white, and black colors) package that you bought. THEN choose the episode from there. You should be good to go.

Dweezil

Hi Jim,

Hopefully you're all set after listening from the 5150 location. If you have any other trouble please let me know. Best, DZ

Craig Griffiths

Hey Dweezil, hi from Australia. I just finished listening to the fantastic Steve Vai episodes. Great job! I'm so excited about the next instalment with Paul Gilbert - EVH and PG are personal faves. By the way, if you check my pics you'll see a couple of Frank photos from his 1976 tour of Australia from a book I wrote this year about The Bondi Lifesaver, a famous 1970s Sydney venue and general hangout for rock lovers and musicians. (it was also a place AC/DC loved to play and a fave hang of Bon Scott's when he lived in the neighbourhood. He'd often be in there playing pinball and getting up to mischief :)
