For “Magic” I always had the image of the band sitting semi circle just inside a warehouse roll up door with beers and such on the floor with the rain falling outside.
if the world loses him, all the knowledge is gone. We really need Greg Renoff to do the book. Again, thank you for these, Dweezil. I waswalking in the neighborhood and bawling listening to you guys talk about Romeo Delight solo.
Hello, "fools" and other songs without whammy is Ed using his 58/59 Les Paul? I read some where that in '79 once VH started making money he purchased one.
So sorry for the delay. I'm having problems with the internet at my house and uploading the episode continues to be a problem today. The spinning wheel of death strikes again! I promise it'll be up today though!!!
Loving this. All of us mourning the passing of Edward need this right now. Btw I've seen ZPZ twice and have a ticket waiting. Those shows also mean a lot to me. One of the shows I attended was the OSFA show and it was incredible. I never got to see Frank live so it's great to get to experience this music live and performed at such a high level.
Many of us listening to these great perspectives only knew him in written interview articles or brief videos and albums of course. It's great to hear stories from you who actually knew him when you were young. I remember reading about 5150 when I was young and wondering what it was like as some magical place. Dweezil, do you think 5150 would ever be opened up to the public in any way in the future?
Paul hit on something revelatory— Eddie’s lead playing and Dave’s singing are two sides of the same coin. A lot of the same inflections and phrasing. Tough to say who influenced who, but it dawned on me: “That’s why they sound perfect together!”
So many memories as a kid. I was 6 years old when I first heard VH1 in 1981. I have been a fan and playing guitar ever since. At that age if it wasn't Van Halen then it just wasn't good enough.

I think Paul Gilbert is thinking of Earth Wind and Fire's Shining Star with that Beautiful Girls melody
Dweezil, WACF are fantastic episodes!!!
I’m still smiling.
Hi Jurre,
I'm glad you enjoyed them! They were fun to make.
Very cool video Dweezil:

WAY cool. Thanks for the link! Loving these podcasts.
Back in the day I had a version of WACF where "Growth" fades out. It sounds weird to me to just end.
Deeezil, the answer to your question at 45:26 of part 2 of WACF: lots of krell!
Growth, on the original release, faded out and then when remastered was changed to the hard crash ending.

I got one word for future episodes. “DonLandee”!

Hi Jay,
It would be great to chat with Donn. We are trying to make that happen. I will be speaking with Greg Renoff for an upcoming episode!

We’re not going anywhere Dweezil.

I love how Paul just knows every lick and solo from the entire album
Are the Running with the Dweezil episodes only audio or are there videos associated with them as well?
Hi Shane,
The episodes are audio only at this point. For the episode about recreating the "Brown Sound," we are considering creating video content.

Hi Leonard,
I think a lot of people felt like that, especially at that time! Fair Warning!!!
